LCT has issued an Informational Bulletin to address this condition. Please reference the attached Informational Bulletin (see page 2), for engine identification information and troubleshooting and repair steps. Standard warranty applies. Remove Spark Plug Cap and install spark plug in removed cap Install Safety Key Switch and switch Rocker Switch into ON position Hold Spark Plug tip against Valve Cover Pull Recoil rope and check for spark If no spark: a. Remove White Ground Wire from cylinder air flow shield at base of cylinder and Retest (see picture to the right) b. If spark occurs, removal of the front shields are required to correct an identified interference condition between Rocker Switch blade connections (A), and Throttle Linkage Rod Drip Shield (B) c. d. If spark DOES NOT occur, Ignition Coil is defective and needs to be replaced. RECONNECT WHITE GROUND WIRE WHEN FINISHED WITH PROCEDURE If spark was obtained when disconnecting White Ground Wire, follow the below procedure to further troubleshoot: a. Remove Four (4) Muffler Shield screws and set shield to the side for later reassembly b. c. Remove Four (4) Heater Box screws Remove Choke knob and Idle Down Device knob d. e. Gently lift Heater Box over Choke Extension Shaft and repeat initial Spark Test listed in steps 1 through 4 above If Spark is obtained after this procedure, Drip Shield and Rocker Switch blade(s) have an assembly interference condition Complete Warranty Form for NO START inspection f. With Heater Box still removed reform Throttle Linkage Drip Shield (See 5(b) above) by pressing down on shield towards top of blower housing as indicated by yellow arrow shown in 5(b) a. Verify shield is not pressed down too far to cause an engagement condition with throttle linkage rod. b. Modify Rocker Switch Lower Blade to ensure interference condition is prevented i. Using Needle Nose Pliers, fold down lower blade connector [lower right side when reading Run/Stop text] Lower Right Blade Connector 2. 3. 4. Reassemble Heater Box ensuring wire harness does not get pinched/damaged during reassembly Repeat initial Spark Test listed in steps 1 through 4 above If Spark is still present, reassemble Muffler Shield and reinstall Spark Plug Boot to engine spark Plug.
