BOOK FOR CHILDREN. ASTRONOMY. A very rare little pamphlet of astronomical
subject intended for children. It includes the essential notions about the structure of the
solar system, his central star Solen his planets and their fundamental satellites, Mercurius,
Venus, Jorden, Mars, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Jupiter, Saturnus, Uranus, the moon, the
comets and the fixed stars. The text is accompanied at the end by 5 nicely sculpted cooper
plates printed on azure paper depicting the Solar system, the Solstices, the lunar Phases and
the astronomical phenomena of Moon and Sun Eclipses. On the verso of last page ‘Kostar
häft, 20 skillingar Banco’. Interiors in good antiquarian conditions with moderate spotting
and foxing due to age and kind of paper. Contemporary ownership handwritten note on
the verso of front cover ‘E.Wennerquist’, original paper binding in pale blue. A remarkable
book for children, only two copies registered on LIBRIS (Union catalogue of Swedish
Libraries) definitely a bibliographical rarity both for the subject and its scarcity.
